Can we just talk about Sunday mornings….?

So…. I am in ‘that’ chapter of life for weekends now.

Gone are the early morning drives to the barn to exercise the ponies and or horses.

Gone are the lacrosse practices and games.

Gone are the soccer practices and games.

Gone are the ski training or race weekends all over Ontario ski country.

Gone are the days when we had to combine many of the above all into one weekend [sheesh…that was exhausting!].

I have to say it is bittersweet because albeit daunting at the time, it was truly magical that we were outdoors being active and engaged in whatever sport.  I can’t believe that though those days were brutally physcially challenging, they are done.

So chapters of your life close and you move onto the next one.

Now, I must say I have swung into the other end of the spectrum for my Sunday mornings.

Yes, I will do a long run [eventually], and yes I will menu plan healthy options for the up coming week, and yes I will look at the upcoming week of client/work deadlines and progress….but how sweet to do so with a massive cup of coffee…in bed.

I can’t lie…I love the [unfathomable] element of not having an overscheduled Sunday.   My apologies to all those active, multi-tasking moms going through pretty much my check list above [and more!].  I don’t want to be ‘that’ annoying person…but know this:

Those crazy, exhausting, special moments when you are juggling more than you think you can handle with your kids are what make life special.  It’s daunting at the time, but when you reflect back it always makes your heart sing.

So I enjoy my Sunday morning coffee knowing that though perhaps not perfect, I have ticked off all those ‘Mom’ moments over the years and I can now enjoy my bucket o java guiltfree and reminiscent.
