When you get an invitation to New York Fashion week, what’s a girl to do? A fabulous city…an uber talent designer…count me in!

Oh and the Nicole Miller fashion show…. Fashion week is always a marathon of people jostling, schedules and visual delights (mostly) but this show was stunning. The colour palettes, trim, accents, music and ambience were sublime. A brilliant talent, and a brilliant show.

New York is a city I have visiting dozens of times and I never tire of it. Yes, with La Guardia airport’s renovations getting in and out is a bit of a mission with the cabs, but pack the patience and generally go with it right?

This visit I stayed at the refurbished Knickerbocker hotel in Times Square. Now, be forewarned that there is a love/hate relationship with Times Square. The lights, bustle, proximity to astonishing theatres and crowds are truly fun. Getting a cab to get across town is a bit teeth grinding, but pop over a block or two east or west to get out of the melee and you’re pretty much good to go.

This hotel… I must say it’s hard to find anything negative to say about it. I had booked a premium corner room over looking Times Square, so though not inexpensive, the view and layout was lush and brilliantly well appointed.

We enjoyed this view very, very much!

The St Cloud rooftop restaurant on the evening of our arrival with wine, delicious charcuterie platter, sublime service and stunning views was a glorious introduction to the weekend.

This was absolutely sublime!

Now if you are a runner and visit New York, how can you not run in Central Park?

This is truly one of my guilty pleasures and I must say I do often plan my hotel stays given how far to Central Park with the given kilometers I will want/need to run. This is a true gem in the heart of Manhattan. Though I have run it at least a dozen times, I do invariably get lost and off track as there are so many gorgeous roads/paths. If you do get a chance, not necessarily to run, but to meander…you must experience the Mall in Central Park. A wide, grand expanse it has been the scene for so many movies filmed in New York as it is truly gorgeous!

Lastly, as you are already so near if in Central Park, why not stop at the Plaza Hotel?

A lush lobby always

To stop here and bask in this grand olde dame of a hotel with its impeccable service, glorious lobby and restaurants is truly decadent. T’would be rude not to partake in a glass of Veuve and a little nosh ….right??   [sigh….can I stay here forever please??]

Alas, just a weekend…but one that put a smile on my face for quite a while.

Until next time NYC! xo
