Ahhh the dark days of frigid cold weather. Is it just me, but has the weather since Christmas been cloud covered, dreary and cold?

Deep in the throes of winter the weather has many in our colder climes  yearning for that sweet vitamin D, sunshine and warmth.

I was fortunate enough recently to escape to the Dominican Republic for a gal getaway with my 26 YO. (resort review to come shortly!).

I will admit after much travel whether it’s been for business or leisure over the years and 20+ countries, I have made a whole lotta packing blunders on a grand scale.

Having said that, with much self evaluation, I’ve curated a collection of savvy travel tips that are sure to elevate your sun shine getaway game.

So, settle in, and let’s embark on a journey through the ultimate guide to traveling like a seasoned pro!

  1. Packing Cubes: Organization Made Easy

Truly the unsung heroes of the travel world, but very high on the social media sphere.

These nifty little organizers have saved me countless times from the chaos of an overpacked suitcase. I swear by them! I make sure to snag different colors and sizes so I can easily unpack my essentials upon arrival to the wardrobe, drawers or bathroom:

  • * For sun-soaked destinations, toss your bathing suits, beach combs, and an arsenal of SPF sunscreens into a large cube.
  • * Keep your basics like undies and PJs neatly tucked away in a medium-sized cube.
  • * Wrangle all your toiletries – makeup, skincare goodies, hair accessories – into another medium cube.
  • * And of course, reserve a large cube for your trusty sandals, flats, and flip flops.

  1. Emergency Kit: Be Prepared for Anything

No one wants their vacation derailed by unexpected sun time  hiccups, so I always pack an emergency kit stocked with essentials:

  •  * Liquid IV sachets are a lifesaver for staying hydrated,. Whenever on the beach or by the pool, I alternate libations with a water bottle of these hydration drinks. Also… for some, before your morning coffee the next day especially after indulging in a few too many cocktails by the pool the day before – very helpful! They’re chocka block to start your day!
  • * Opt for an aloe spray over the traditional gel for soothing post-sun skin without the sticky residue. It’s so easy to forget this step… Ideally after your skin nourish bath.
  • * also – don’t forget clear waterproof bandages… your sweet tootises have not been in sandals for months, so they may tell you they’re unhappy!

  1. Tummy Troubles? We’ve Got You Covered

Let’s talk about the less glamorous side of travel – tummy issues. It happens to the best of us, but fear not! Pack these essentials to keep your stomach in check:

  • * Natural fibre crystals are your best friend for maintaining regularity, especially when travel slows things down.
  • * Don’t forget the Imodium or generic versions thereof.  It happens … those unexpected bouts of travel tummy.
  • * Antacids  are a must-have for combating any discomfort caused by resort cuisine.

  1. Post-Sun Pampering: Treat Yourself!

After a day of fun in the sun, it’s time to indulge in a little self-care before you go out for dinner:

  • * Treat yourself to a rejuvenating sea salt bath soak infused with aromatherapy scents  and nourishing organic coconut oil– your skin will thank you!
  • * Pop on a hydrating sheet face mask to give your sun-kissed complexion some much-needed hydration.
  • * And don’t neglect your locks! Give your hair some TLC with a nourishing hair mask  to combat the effects of sun exposure.

I can’t lie… this is a very lovely way to end a glorious day in the sun especially if your resort or hotel has a sumptuous bath tub! ( glass of chilled chardonnay optional 😉 )

And there you have it – my top travel hacks for jet setters of all kinds. With these tips in your arsenal, you’ll be ready to take on any adventure that comes your way. Happy travels! 🌍✈️
