Clean Cosmetics

Is it possible to have gorgeous cosmetics without the toxins and still have the performance and quality you’ve enjoyed with your big name cosmetic brands?

I can state unequivocally:   YES!

If you take a quick look at my “What’s in a Label” post, you will see that there is a myriad of toxins that are best to avoid for all personal care products. The following three brands are but a few of my favourites that truly highlight the fact that you can have toxin free, beautiful product without compromising quality or style.

Let’s firstly look at Delizioso. A dynamic sister duo, Ariel and Leeona have been committed to crafting 100% natural, artisan skin care and cosmetics since 2008. With the foundation of all products based on fresh natural ingredients, you can see and feel the difference.

Their website is informative and they are totally transparent with all that not only goes into the product…. But more importantly what doesn’t!

To start ( and end) each day, a few drops of Mangosteen Superberries Liposome Elixir  will replenish the skin and reduce the appearance of skin irritations. Mangosteen has been referred to as the “super fruit” as it has tremendous antioxidant qualities. I love the fact that it has no synthetic components, nor water or any other dilutants…that’s why just a few drops go a long way!

Let’s talk about the lip and cheek shines made with botanical ingredients and natural pigments. The versatility in the formulations makes them ideal for both lips and cheeks.

My favourite shade [for the moment 😉  ] is Luscious Mulberry with its subtle shimmer and gorgeous shade that works great for daytime and right into evening outings. I especially love the fact that one of the key ingredients is castor seed oil, which is super moisturizing for even the driest lips

For those little skin imperfections, the camouflage mousse  is your answer. This beautifully hydrating cream is great not only to cover up skin imperfections, but can be used to contour or highlight as well as there is a nice span of shades to choose from. It’s 100% natural, vegan and made with certified organic ingredients… what’s not to love?

And whether we’re in the throes of winter or the heat of the summer months, my skin is always yearning for reprieve from dryness.

The body butters   —all of them— smell delicious! With their scents coming from natural ingredients, choices like cranberry pomegranate, pink grapefruit mandarin and chocolate almond (to name a few) will make you want to try more than one. The tea leaves lime body butter is a particular favourite with its fresh, citrus scent… and it leaves your skin oh so dewy soft.

There is a perception for some people, that going “green” with your cosmetics requires you to sacrifice some of that glamorous, luxury purchase experience. Nothing could be further from the truth than the Saint cosmetics line. Highly sophisticated packaging with a colour selection that will rival many of the traditional prestige brands, you will want to take a look at this brand.

This plant based, leaping bunny certified organic high performance make up line is outstanding.

The coverage of this blush is fabulous. Because of the micro light reflecting pigments, the skin will have a sheer, natural finish giving you a healthy glow.

From my Travel Essentials   post you will know that I am a huge fan of eye shadow palettes. I must say that I frustrated with many brands that have a massive spectrum of colour in the palettes…..but essentially only 2 or 3 are actually usable.

What I love about my ‘Dusk til Dawn’   colour spectrum us that I use ALL of the colours: base, contour and 2 highlight options. The last dark pigment (with a quirky name of ‘Hell have no Fury’) is perfect for eye lining to achieve a dramatic evening look.   The fact that the compact has a generous mirror and a dual ended brush tops off the perfection of this product!

And now to the end of the day, I come with another fave clean brand: DTB inc . The transparency of this brand is incredible…not only are they rigorously dedicated to ensuring the very best toxin free formulations, but you can read the extensive list of ingredients  that their products will NOT have.   I have yet to find a cosmetic brand that goes to this extent on their websites.

I am a big proponent of trying to keep life simple and there are two amazing product that do just that.

Are you interesting in one product that does the job of four?   The Cleanser  is an exfoliator, make-up remover, cleanser and toner.  ( just think of the space you’ll save on your vanity!) The deep cleaning formula is lush making your skin look and feel fabulous.
