When you’re having those “I’m feeling so January “ blues…. There is nothing quite as comforting to perk you up as a great dinner out.

In Toronto nearly 200 restaurants will be participating in the annual Winterlicious festival whereby restaurants across the board will offer prix fixe menus during the event.  Happening this year from January 25th to February 7th, it’s a foodie festival you will not want to miss!

I simply love, love, love Winterlicious here in Toronto:

a) I get to go out for dinner

b) I am tantalized by very artfully crafted menus by some of the best restaurants and talented chefs in this vast metropolis and

c) it’s off price!

What’s not to love?

I love the experimentation of this. Some discoveries have been absolute slam dunks on both the experiential element and the culinary fare…. Others…ummm…well not so much.

There are also astonishing memories remembered with great Winterlicious dinners out.

Like that absolutely frigid January a few years back when the eldest kidlette was in high school and we hosted a exchange student from the UK and her mum, along with other exchange students at Canoe  restaurant on the 54th floor of the TD bank tower in the financial disctrict of Toronto.  The menu was sublime and the views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking!

Or discovering Cibo Wine bar  that now is a staple go-to for chic casual sublime Italian cuisine for client lunches or friend night out.

I can’t say what’s my favourite from the menu but if you love a gorgeous pasta the slow cooked lamb ragu pappardelle is outstanding… or for a lighter fare the seared tuna tonnoscottato + caponate is devine.

Or in the pursuit of discovery….

This year, for a change I am trying one of the ‘event’ options: high tea at Casa Loma.   First of all: who doesn’t love a gorgeous high tea?   Secondly, in this spectacular Edwardian castle within the city with live music…. How can you not?

If you want to enlighten yourself to the world of Scotch, htere is a “Scotch and Learn event at the lovely David Duncan House.

Now then…. If you want to have an astonishing night out in these dark, dreary days of winter, you simply must check out all of  the crazy fabulous events that the team at Winterlicious have put together. There is a whole lotta wonderful happening here!

Also, check the site for all of the amazing restaurants participating in this great festival. So many divinely delicious options here on the Toronto city website.

The list of great restaurant options during Winterlicious is fabulous, but I will warn you book soon because it does get a little crazy to find the ideal time/dates at many of these great restaurants.

Bon appetit!
